Description
Circa 1806-1825. Marked on the back with a red hand-painted Derby crown mark and some decorator numbers, also in red. Made at the Nottingham Road factory.
Diameter: 10 " (25.5 cm)
Height: 1.25 " (3.5 cm)
PROVENANCE: San Francisco estate.
CONDITION: Excellent condition with light wear to the gold fire-gilding at the outer rim. Light overall wear, but generally very fine. No chips, no restoration, no hairlines.NOTES / REFERENCES: This plate is a near match to the plate we sold at our last auction and was consigned by the same estate. The differences are minor ... the main difference is that the last plate we sold was painted with the Blackamoor having four arrows on his chest sash ... this present example has just three arrows on the sash. There are other small differences as the plates are hand-painted. The consignor has no other examples of this design and there were only two of these Derby plates in the estate.
