Description
A BRONZE GOOSE-FORM INCENSE BURNER, 18TH-19TH CENTURY

Mughal Empire, 18th-19th century. Boldly cast with a hollow interior, the stylized bird with a long S-shaped neck, its beak agape, and neatly incised scrolling feathers. A chain is attached to each side of the fowl's back for suspension.

Condition: Fair condition with wear, traces of use, casting flaws, small nicks, small losses, dents.
Provenance: The collection of The Zelnik Istvan Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above. Dr. Istvan Zelnik, President of the Hungarian South and Southeast Asian Research Institute, is a former high-ranking Hungarian diplomat who spent several decades in Southeast Asia, building the largest known private collection of Asian art in Europe.
