Description

A LARGE 'DRAGON-CARP' EXPORT SILVER CUP BY LIANG SHENG

China, late Qing dynasty (1644-1912). The fine deep bowl raised on a tall foot shaped as a dragon fish raising from crushing waves, with large bulging eyes, neatly incised scales, and sharp teeth, the broad tail supporting the cup. The round base impressed with hallmarks, 'HO' and 'LIANG SHENG,' along with two additional, indiscernible, hallmarks.

Condition: Very good condition with some wear and very few minimal dents.
Provenance: French trade.
