Pair of rare Chinese export silver cup holders & inserts by Luen Hing, Shanghai, c.1910; holders with pierced dragon design and dragon form handles, each holder with a silver tapering cylindrical cup insert. Total weight 124.5gm, height 5cm. In very good condition, without damage, each cup with markings to base.
Condition
Arguably one of the most exclusive Chinese silversmiths at the time, Luen Hing (1880 - 1925) operated an luxurious emporium located at 231 Szechuan Road (today Sichuan Road) catering to the well heeled foreigners and the growing affluent middle class Chinese. The firm was known for producing extremely high quality items with unique avant-garde designs.
