Einstein here proposes an experiment to track the ”Interference Characteristics of Light Emitted by Canal [i.e. Anode] Rays”, but the accompanying data supplied by Emil Rupp was in fact fraudulent. Einstein‘s interest in Anode Rays appears to date back to 1907 when he saw the device as capable of proving the time dilation effect of Special Relativity. Boni 160.
