Description
South America, Peru, Post-Conquest Period, ca. mid-16th to 17th century CE. A trio of mold-formed pottery artifacts bearing highly burnished surfaces and lustrous black hues. One piece shows a figure standing atop a rectangular plinth while another shows a hunchback figure holding its phallus. The largest is a standalone head with a wide-brimmed hat, its head topped with an open spout. Size of largest: 4.375" L x 4.125" W x 6.8" H (11.1 cm x 10.5 cm x 17.3 cm)
Provenance: private Carroll collection, Georgia, USA, by descent; ex-private Jim Carroll collection, Maryland, USA, acquired 1960s
