**Originally Listed At $250**

South America, Peru, Post-Conquest period, ca. late 16th to 17th century CE. A hand-built pottery pitcher with a spherical body, a rounded shoulder tapering to a cylindrical neck, a flared spout lip, and an arching strap handle adorned with a raised twisted rope motif, all atop a concave flared foot. The front of the neck displays a stylized anthropomorphic visage replete with ovoid eyes beneath slender brows, a perky nose, puffy cheeks, a rounded chin, and large ears. Traces of the original orange-red glaze are visible in some exposed areas of encrustations. A fine example from Post-Conquest Peru! Size: 8.55" W x 11.5" H (21.7 cm x 29.2 cm).

Spout rim repaired from a few large pieces with small chips and light adhesive residue along break lines. Small chips and abrasions to foot, body, and spout rim, with fading to original pigmentation, and encrustations across most exterior surfaces. Nice earthen deposits and great traces of original pigmentation throughout.
