Description
The case was made from a hollowed out wood shaft with both ends wrapped with an elaborately tooled thin metal. The metal is a low grade silver. The ends of the knife handle and chop sticks have also been wrapped with the same metal , although the ends on the chopsticks have not been tooled. The chopsticks are bamboo and not perfectly even. The knife blade is very heavy and is probably made from steel. The knife handle is made from a dense reddish wood. The case and implements were all made by hand.
MEASUREMENTS
10 ½” (26.7 cm) long. Weighs 5.6 oz (160 g)
CONDITION
The metal takes on a good shine when polished. The metal work on the case has corrosion in two areas, but I was able to polish it away on the high points. I believe most of the corrosion could be removed. There is a dent at one side of the end of the holder. The case is missing the lid. The knife blade has rust and pitting, but the utensils otherwise are in good condition.
An interesting set to add to a collection or decorate with.
