VAN DER ZEE, JAMES (1886–1983)

Undeclared War, 1927, printed 1982. Gelatin silver print on Brovira, image 9 7/8 x 7 13/16 inches (252 x 200 mm) on larger sheet, signed in the negative, with the estate blindstamp on the face of the print (l.r.), verso signed by both James and Donna Van Der Zee, numbered 20 from the edition of 75, and extensively annotated in pencil, with the Van Der Zee certificate attached to the rear of the frame. No defects noted in raking light. Framed.

Norma Stevens represented Richard Avedon for thirty years, and her husband Martin (d. 2016) was an art and creative director for Revlon and other agencies.
