[COSTUME DESIGN]

NOLAN MILLER. Original sketch for an outfit worn by Ginger Rogers in The Love Boat. Circa 1979. An original gouache, ink, pencil and marker sketch on illustration board depicting a matching peach ensemble worn by Ginger Rogers in Wilford Lloyd Baumes' romantic comedy-drama series The Love Boat (1977-1986). Signed in marker (lr) and inscribed "Ginger Rogers ~ "Love Boat"" in gold ink (ll) and "Ginger Rogers Love Boat" in both pencil and marker on verso, the board measures 20 x 15 inches (51 x 38 cm). Framed. Toned at edges, faint marks to margins, light wear from handling to corners, very small restoration at lower margin (below the illustration itself); Together with an original sketch for a gown worn by Jane Seymour. An original ink, gouache and pencil sketch on paper. Signed in ink (lr), with notations "Jane" in pencil and "Jane Seymour Personal" in ink, the sheet measures 13 3/4 x 11 inches (35 x 28 cm). Margins toned, pinhole to top, faint spotting to upper section and margins, very short tear on right edge.

A sketch for a traveling ensemble worn by Ginger Rogers in season 3, episode 10 of The Love Boat, titled "Critical Success", "The Love Lamp is Lit", "Take My Boyfriend, Please", "Rent a Family" and "The Man in Her Life", aired November 10, 1979. There are mild differences between the sketch and the outfit worn by Rogers in the episode. Rogers' character Stella wears a matching red blouse, pants, and scarf with a white flowered draped ruana, rather than the peach ensemble in the illustration. The sketch also depicts wide long sleeves with a contrasting cuff, while the final design has three-quarter length lantern sleeves. Offered with an elegant design for a gown worn by Jane Seymour.
