Description
Ancient Egypt, New Kingdom, 20th Dynasty, ca. 1189 to 1070 BCE. An intriguing overseer ushabti (or reis ushabti) that is hand-built from clay extracted from the banks of the Nile River. The minimalist figure presents in mummiform with tapered legs, a projecting kilt signifying his role as an overseer, and arms folded atop the chest. The stylized visage features slit-form eyes above a prominent nose, pursed lips, and lengthy vertical bars on the cheeks that perhaps suggest a beard. Size: 2.3" L x 2.14" W x 6.625" H (5.8 cm x 5.4 cm x 16.8 cm)
