Introduction:
Ushabti figurines are funerary statuettes placed in tombs among the grave goods and were intended to act as substitutes for the deceased, should he/she be called upon to do manual labor in the afterlife. They were inscribed with a special spell to ensure this. The color and material of this Ushabti, made from faience, a glazed ceramic material, indicate its origins from the Late Period of ancient Egypt. This period saw the flourishing of various arts and the refinement of older religious practices, giving a glimpse into a time of both turmoil and cultural richness.

Provenance:
Esteemed collector Rashid Al-Farouq acquired this artifact in 2010 from a seasoned antiquarian, Ahmed El-Masri, during his travels to Cairo. El-Masri recounted stories of its discovery near the ancient city of Thebes, where it was believed to have been part of a noble's burial ensemble, showcasing its deep historical roots and authenticity. A digital copy of Certificate of Authenticity (COA) will be included with this auction lot.
