Lot of 100+. All but one are "North Broken Hill Silver Mining Company," 50 and 100 shares, issued 1900-04. One is for the later name, "North Broken Hill Mining Company," issued in 1909, 50 shares. All cancelled. Black print on green paper. Famous Australian mining company! Broken Hill, 1100 km west of Sydney, is Australia's longest lived mining city. Silver ore was discovered at Broken Hill in 1883. The company was formed in 1888 as North Broken Hill Silver Mining to exploit the rich silver, lead and zinc deposits at Broken Hill in western New South Wales. The name was shortened to North Broken Hill in 1905. Production at the original North Broken Hill mine wound down and it finally closed in 1993. Broken Hill Australia
