Ca. AD 100-300.A silver spoon with a tear-shaped bowl with markings inside and a gracefully curved handle with globular detailing. In Rome such spoons would be the preserve of the elite, used both for serving food and also demonstrating one's wealth. For similar see: The British Museum, Museum number 1981,0201.79. Size: 140mm x 30mm; Weight: 15g Provenance: Property of a London Ancient Art Gallery; formerly in the famous Alison Barker collection, a retired London barrister; acquired between early 1960s to 1990s.
