Description
John Lorimer Worden (1818 –1897) was a U.S. Navy officer in the American Civil War, who took part in the Battle of Hampton Roads, the first-ever engagement between ironclad steamships at Hampton Roads, Virginia, on 9 March 1862. ALS dated Dec 2, 1872 to a Commodore thanking him for a note congratulating Worden for a promotion. It measures 8" x 5". There is also an engraving and print of the Attack of the “Monitor” on the “Merrimack”.
