Iberian Peninsula, Spain, used in the colonial New Mexico or New Spain 16th-18th century. Long shafted lance or spear with an errored spiked lower point and very early Spanish spear head in bulbous form with a raised central ridge between the doubled edged blade terminating sharply to a point. Lances were a primary weapon for Spanish cavalry units. Mounted conquistadors and soldiers known as (caballeros) would charge at enemy forces, aiming to impale opponents with the pointed tips of their lances.
