Description
A PAIR OF JAPANESE SILVER INLAID IRON AND RED LACQUER "ABUMI" STIRRUPS, SIGNED, EDO PERIOD (1603-1868), 18TH CENTURY, buckles suspend the vented, tapered necks, signed in inlay at the front ridges over inlaid brass rings before pigeon breast-form "hato muni" ends inlaid with silver stringing in the form of undulating tendrils of wilting peony, the interior painted with red lacquer, the foot with a basket weave patterned silver inlay. Height: 10" Width: 5" Depth: 10 1/2"
Condition
Rust, oxidation and age spots throughout, loss of silver inlay, cracks to lacquer, the brass inlaid ring at front is possibly an old repair.
