Description
This piece is from one of the few residences that Louis Sullivan designed- one of only two that were designed in the 20th century. Built in 1907, the residence was built for a wealthy Edison phonographic merchant by the name of Henry B. Babson. The house, located in Riverside, Illinois, consisted of 25 rooms and sat on 25 acres of land. Sadly, the house was demolished in 1960 to make way for a new subdivision. Luckily historic preservationist and photographer Richard Nickel stepped in to document and save parts of the home, including this piece. Dimensions are 16 7/8” tall x 11.5” wide x 4 5/16” deep
