Two American Swords, 19th century. Including an infantry officer's saber, c. 1820-40 with brass hilt, narrow counter-guard with down-turned quillon and langets, knuckle bow with slot at the top joining a rounded pommel with backstrap, leather covered grip; curved single-edge blade with false edge at the tip and single narrow fuller, blade lg. 28 1/2, overall lg. 33 in.; and an Ames U.S. Model 1840 Light Artillery saber, nickel-plated brass hilt marked 'J.F.' on the knuckle bow and '101' on the pommel and counter-guard, leather grip with twisted brass wire wrapping; curved blade with false edge at the tip and single wide fuller, the ricasso marked 'US/A.D.K./1865' with nickel-plated scabbard marked 'US' on the drag, blade lg. 32 1/4, overall lg. 38 in.
