This Vintage 1960’s Old Man Fishing Ardco Fine Quality Dallas made in Japan is hard to find. It can be classified as pottery / porcelain / ceramic / bone china / and was purchased at a fine jewelry store in the late 1960's to early 1970's. They were quite pricey at the time. These figurines by Ardco are very detailed and lovely. The Fisherman is wearing a hat, smoking a pipe, while sitting on a bench fishing - By his side is a Creel Basket and a Tackle Box - So detailed that this piece even shows wear on the old man's boots and patches on his pants. His hair, mustache, and facial expressions are extremely detailed - quality work - The bench is also detailed - old plank boards and tree stumps -Original label still on the base - states: ARDCO Fine Quality Dallas Made in Japan Size: approx. 8 ¼ inches high and approx. 5 ¼ inches wide. Condition: No chips. No cracks. NO loss of paint. It would be in MINT condition except the figure originally contained a very thin bamboo type wooden stick in the fisherman's hands (has been replaced by something similar.) I have several of these that would be considered RARE since you cannot find them easily on the internet.
