A Rare Irish 50-Bore Flintlock Turn-Off Pocket PistolBy Anglin, Wexford, Circa 1740With turn-off cannon barrel, breech engraved 'Wexford' along the top and signed beneath the chiselled steel-spring, border engraved tang sparsely decorated with foliage, plain action (cock replaced), sliding trigger-guard safety-catch decorated with a flower-head on the border engraved bow, figured rounded butt with silver butt-cap cast and chased with a grotesque demi-mask, a scallop shell and foliage, and vacant silver escutcheon (some old wear and rust patination), Irish proof marks 5.7 cm. barrelFootnotes:A J.
