Description
Native American, Western United States, Plains Tribes, Cheyenne / Dakota (Sioux) ca. late 1890s to 1900s CE. A ceremonial staff or weapon made from cow horns mounted to a wood rod covered with died hide. A horsehair tassel is tied to the shaft. This was a symbolic war club that was held during dances or other ritualistic events to convey status or power. Size: 19.5" L x 13" W (49.5 cm x 33 cm)

Fraying to rawhide on end of wood, tear to seam and loss to sinew thread and wood tip. Some abrasions and nicks to horn, otherwise intact. Good condition.
