Description
No other Khila prayer rugs of this design are known. The woven date seen above the top of the mihrab, which we read as "1205", would indicate an origin in the 18th century. This date is confirmed by the archaic style of the design. The dark blue mihrab field is separated by a red frame from the wide border section whose light green main border is decorated with a spaciously conceived white kufic vine. The octagonal medallion with an outline of rays does not lie at the centre, but abuts the lower end of the red arch. The fact that the free spaces in the field are filled with different botehs is hardly surprising in a Khila rug.
Signs of age and wear, low pile, the foundation is visible in some places. Corroded brown, both ends slightly reduced, reselvedged.
