Description
Another ensi of the same group was published by Elmby in 1990. There, too, the horizontal panel of the hatchlu cross is placed below the centre of the field. In our ensi, the two upper segments of the field are twice as tall as the lower ones. The rare elem, two horizontal bands in different ground colours with offset rows of tree forms, is almost identical in both ensis, but their border designs diverge. The greatest difference between the two pieces is their field design. In the Elmby ensi, the four segments of the field are decorated with insi kush abstract birds, while our ensi shows a far rarer design of four parallel rows of large trees.
Slightly reduced and damaged sides, replaced cords. The original finishes are missing at the top and bottom, slight signs of wear.
