Margaret, Lady Poulett, signed oil on canvas, 50-1/8 x 40-1/8 in.; gilt wood frame, 63-3/4 x 54 in.

Provenance: Estate of Ben Smith, Newnan, Georgia

Note: This is a version of Romney's half length of Mrs. Margaret Smith (Kidson 1203), who in 1816 married her second husband, the 4th Earl of Poulett. The first version was recently sold to the Art Institute of Chicago.

This painting will be added as another version (1203 d.) in the upcoming addendum to Kidson, Alex. George Romney. A Complete Catalogue of His Paintings. 3 Vols. New Haven: Yale University Press, 2014.
