ANTIQUE JEWISH FILIGREE DOMED TZEDAKAH SILVER BOX with HEBREW SCRIPT, 1900x
A Tzedakah silver box features a reticulated body composed of a hexagonal silver frame with silver filigree decorations and a domed lid with a slot for donations. The item is marked on one side with 'Tzedakah' in Hebrew and is finished with a curled foot at each corner of its body. In most Jewish homes, there was a box designated for the deposit of tzedakah coins for charity. From early childhood, Jewish children learned that their responsibility was to care for other Jews in need.
HALLMARKS: Marked on underside '925' for silver content and 'SHOHAM'.
DIMENSIONS: 3.75 x 2.75 x 2.5 inches (9.5 x 7.5 x 6 cm). Weight: 129 grams.
