Vladimir Gavrilovich Krikhatsky was born on June 8, 1877 in Odessa in the family of Gavriil Akimovich, a railway employee. From 1896 to 1902 he studied at the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of the Novorossiysk University, after which he worked at customs for several years. He received his artistic education at the private art school of M. M. Manylam, then, from 1897, he studied at the Odessa Drawing School.
At various times, Vladimir Gavrilovich took lessons from Odessa artists G. S. Golovkov, O. G. Turtsevich, V. V. Naake. In 1910-1917 he took part in spring exhibitions in the cities of Yekaterinoslav (now Dnepr), Yelisavetgrad (now Kropyvnytskyi), Kiev, Nikolaev. In 1913-1914 he participated in the Odessa spring art exhibitions. From 1913 to 1920 he was a member of the Association of South Russian Artists, was a member of the United Society, a board member of the Independent Society.
Since 1925 he was a member of the art society named after K. K. Kostandi. Vladimir Gavrilovich painted mostly landscapes. In artistic creativity, he repelled the traditions of Russian realistic art.
In 1939-1940, Vladimir Gavrilovich worked in the Odessa art and sculpture workshops. He exhibited about 50 of his works at the first and second reporting exhibitions of workshops. In 1941, the Odessa Regional Department of Arts was preparing to hold a personal exhibition of V. G. Krikhatsky, but WWII prevented the exhibition.The artist s works are in the Odessa Art Museum, in museum and private collections in Ukraine, Russia and other countries.
