Description

A late 19th century Swiss Orchestral Music box with five original interchangeable cylinders by the famous Conchon firm of Geneva ca 1880. Biedermeier style case in Fine Burl Walnut with Ebonized detail. Upper section with hinged cover contains the instrument on a lower case with fold down writing surface which opens to reveal three small drawers, over a single shirt drawer which houses the extra cylinders, all supported by tall cabriole legs. Serial number 9253 with original cylinders with the same serial numbers. Plays eight titles per cylinder on 6 bells, a 24 key organ, snare drum and castenette. Older finish with minor wear. 43 x 30 1/2 x 49" high overall. ESTIMATE $8,000-12,000
