TSUMURA KAMEJO (DIED 1772)
A Bronze Koro (Incense Burner) and Cover in the Form of a Quail
Edo period (1868-1912), 18th century
Standing with its head turned to the left, a section of the back removable for the incense and forming the cover, signed beneath in a rectangular reserve Kamejo. 13cm x 14cm (5 1/8in x 5½in). (2).

Edo period (1868-1912), 18th century
Standing with its head turned to the left, a section of the back removable for the incense and forming the cover, signed beneath in a rectangular reserve Kamejo. 13cm x 14cm (5 1/8in x 5½in). (2).

Condition
Including but not limited to the following:
An old irregular, horizontal crack (of approx. 1cm long) on one of the feathers on the back, first row closest to the bird's neck, probably due to a original casting occlusion. Typical wear, particularly on the underside of the feet. Aforementioned not distracting, A very presentable piece and in good decorative order.
Please note that this quail is by the female bronze maker Tsumura Kamejo (died 1772) and dates from the 18th century.
