U.S. Model 1917 Trench Knife and Scabbard by L.F.&C.
World War I
8.75" blued triangular blade, 14.25" in overall length including correctly peened pommel cap. Stamped sheet steel guard with six pyramidal "knuckle" projections and correct slab sided walnut finger groove grip. Face of upper hand guard is marked U.S./L.F.&C. /1917. Knife includes a JEWELL 1918 marked OD Green painted leather scabbard with blackened steel mounts secured with blackened rivets. Drag and throat of scabbard properly inspected. Blackened brass belt hanger intact. A very nice example of a World War I Trench Knife.
Condition
Fine. Blade full length with much of the blued finish intact, showing some loss due to scabbard insertion and removal. Guard with some scattered minor surface oxidation. Scabbard fine, with much of the paint intact and with some moderate flaked and scuffed finish loss. Mounts with most of their finish.
