U.S. Model 1917 Trench Knife with Scabbard by American Cutlery Company
World War I
8.9375" blued triangular blade, 14.25" in overall length including spanner nut pommel cap. Stamped sheet steel guard with flanged "knuckle" projections and correct palm swelled walnut finger groove grip. Interior of guard is marked A.C. Co. U.S.A. 1917. Knife includes a JEWELL 1918 marked OD Green painted leather scabbard with blackened steel mounts secured with blackened rivets. Drag and throat of scabbard properly inspected. Blackened brass belt hanger intact. A very nice example of a World War I Trench Knife.
Condition
Fine. Retains most of the blued finish with some fading, wear and loss and some lightly scattered minor surface oxidation and discoloration. Blade full length without damage to the tip. Grip with some minor dings and dents. Scabbard fine with some finish loss to the leather and wear to the finish on the mountings.
