France, for Black, Starr & Frost, New York, an attractive early 20th century repeating carriage clock, the base with inverted fleur de lis like floral ornaments alternating with bellflowers and with flanking, rectangular coffers containing foliate rosettes, each below pilasters which in turn support a frieze with ornament echoing the base, and top with wreath and bowknot handle with animal head mounts, engine turned dial mask with beveled surround, roman numeral white enamel chapter ring with blued steel Breguet style hands, and subsidiary enamel alarm chapter below 6:00, 8 day, three train movement with lever platform and cut bimetallic balance, striking the hours and half hour on a gong, and repeating the last hour on demand
Condition
some losses to gilding, particularly on the handle and handle mounts, case top grained, left glass with chip, lower left, rear glass with chip, lower right, dial surround with two minor spots at bottom, alarm chapter with faint hairline, running, striking, and repeating correctly, balance slightly out of round, balance spring replaced, regulator with minor oxide and shortened tail, circa 1910
