Item Details

Description

Lovely pair of traditional Chinese Bakul Siah wedding baskets. Baskets were used to carry gifts during the engagement and 12 day weddings. These four tier baskets are woven and wood with rich black lacquer. The woven pieces are red, gold gilt hand painted accents with birds and foliage with additional foliage throughout. Handles are hand painted with additional flowers and birds, handle appears steel. Both measure approx.?28" tall x 18" wide. One basket does have a mark, possibly a signature.

Condition

Both appear in great condition for age. One basket does show additional wear to the gold design on the lid.
