Description
Pre-Columbian, North Coast of Peru, Moche, ca. 500 to 800 CE. A hand-built and highly burnished blackware pottery vessel with a round but stable base, a spherical body, and a stylized head comprising the tapered conical spout. Held up to the mouth is a set of pan pipes, a traditional musical instrument of Peru dating back thousands of years, and the coiffure draped down the back of the neck is comprised entirely of snakes. Size: 6.2" L x 6.9" W x 9.6" H (15.7 cm x 17.5 cm x 24.4 cm)

Minor chips to rim, with light fading to pigment, scattered pitting, and minor softening to some finer details, otherwise in great condition. Nice surface smoothness.
