Description
This is a rare, one-of-a-kind sign from the Santa Fe Railroad, made in the Santa Fe shops in Topeka, Kansas. Saved from the railroad commissioners office in the 1970s by a former railroad employee from Topeka, this wood, full color painted sign reads ATCHISON TOPEKA SANTA FE, SANTA FE COMMISSIONERS OFFICE. Excellent original condition, on 1/4 inch plywood, with a white painted backside. Consignor's father was a former ATSF employee in Topeka, who was responsible for salvaging and recycling items as stations and offices were closed down following the demise of passenger service. This sign is a must have for any serious ATSF collector!
