This is an 1899 edition of the Santa Fe Railroad book, To California and Back. Color cover, with 175 pages inside. An insert inside the cover, dated January 1902, lists Santa Fe ticket offices, and notes that the purpose of the book was to give description to Western scenes, and that nothing in the nature of railroad advertisement has been admitted. Many drawings, however, feature the railroad, as well as other scenes one would encounter along the ATSF, along with great stories and descriptions throughout. An internet search and search of our records failed to find any evidence of another copy of this book in other collections or previously sold. Definitely a rare piece that belongs in the collection of any serious Santa Fe collector! No tears or frays.
