This book was written as an early training manual for firefighters and contains chapters such as "The evolution of firefighting", "Great fires and how they were fought", "Fire control in schools, factories, and hospitals, "apparatus for firefighting", "The problems of skyscrapers", and several others. Kenlon was the Chief of the New York City Fire Department.
