A Carved wooden Bassa helmet mask with a well handled surface and signs of field use. Bassa / Dan peoples, Kru sub group, West Africa. The mask itself measures 18 x 10 inches. A metal display stand can also be included for an additional $50.00. Provenance: Field collected by Charles Miller in the 1960s, Ex Sol & Josephine Levitt Collection, New York, 1980s. Also Ex Private NYC collection.
Condition
Fair, tribal repairs with rattan, well handled and worn, what remains is stable.
