Rare Salt Glaze strong attribution to potter Isaac Gay (1835-1904) of Monroe (Union County) North Carolina Four Gallon Churn. Classic example of Gays work with the finger impressions on the lug lifter handles. This attribution is off of a signed example and is identical to this churn. 1870-1890 time period. Condition is outstanding for age and use, one inner rim nick and some minor glaze flaking on lower body of the churn. No cracks or repairs. Provenance - Fresh example from the Estate of the late Martha Griffin of Monroe North Carolina. This piece has been in the family its entire life until this year. Standing 15 3/8" Tall
