Description
(SOUTH CAROLINA.) John P. Hall, engraver. St. Phillip's Church, Charleston S.C., Erected 1723, Burnt 1835. Lithograph, 8¼ x 8¼ inches; toned, moderate dampstaining, several small holes and punctures in image area. No place, circa 1850? Harry T. Peters in America on Stone lists John P. Hall as a partner in a Buffalo, NY lithography firm from 1839 to 1850, and then on his own account from 1850 to 1852. Only one other original example traced, at the New York Public Library's Emmet Collection. A heliotype copy was donated to the State of South Carolina in 1907, presumably the copy reproduced in the South Carolina Historical Magazine, April 1999 (100:2), page 152.
