(CIVIL WAR--PRISON.) Amnesty oath of loyalty signed by an Alabama prisoner at Fort Delaware shortly after the war. Partially printed Document Signed by W.F. Pratt, late private in the 20th Alabama, with stamped signature of prison commander George Ahl and inked stamp of prison. One page, 5 x 7½ inches, with docketing on verso; worn, slight loss at folds, unevenly toned. Fort Delaware, DE, 17 June 1865 Pratt would have been required to sign this oath to secure his release from prison after the conclusion of the war. He is described as of sallow complexion, light hair, blue eyes, and 5'9" tall. On verso, Union officers have signed for his "transportation furnished to Ashby Station" and for rations issued in July.
