Description
Consecon, Prince Edward County, Ontario. Cherry, brass hinges. A commemorative solid cherry desk from the Consecon area of Prince Edward County with a slant front lifting to reveal a single open well. The lid, top, front and ends are relief carved in an "S" scroll pattern. The unique desk has bobbin-turned front legs and plain rear ones. The lid is also dated "1897" with a large "S", for Stephen Lacroix. The desk was completed on April 14, 1897, the same day that Stephen Lacroix died at age 19. Provenance: Irene's Antiques, Highway 33, near Picton. 35.5" x 28.25" x 18". From the late Jim Fleming Collection.

Very good. Old varnish/stain finish.
