Description

Tremendous folk art, primitive piece. This was one of a series of three self-portraits painted by a Vietnam veteran upon his return home to upstate New York. The composition and subject matter is incredible in its simplicity, kitsch and intensely brazen, brash American patriotism. It is not a high quality painting, but it is a high quality folk art piece.
Oil on board - Framed dimensions - 21.5x24.5". Board dimensions - 18.25x21". Fair condition with issues including discoloration, spots & stains as can be seen in photos — Adds to the character of the piece in our opinion.
