Original 2nd Model LeMat revolver, serial 1268, with Paris address. Numbers match on barrel, frame and lock lever. Nine shot .40 caliber cylinder around .63 cal grapeshot barrel. About 2,500 second model LeMats were made 1864-1865, of which more than half were shipped to the Confederate army and navy. This one was likely made near the end of 1864 or the early part of 1865, as the number straddles the middle of the model's production range. Comes with what appears to be the original holster (which has some very old, homemade repairs). This item can be shipped in-house.

Timing is good, though the cylinder stop gives up about 1.5mm of play (as evidenced by the wear on the right side of the hammer). Grips are original, with about 80 percent of the checkering visible. Lever that locks barrel assembly to frame is worn, so it doesn't wedge into place securely. The entire ramrod apparatus has been removed (some time ago, it appears). Quite a number of surface dings, as shown. No rust. Barrels and cylinder are clean.
