Item Details
Description
A Soviet Porcelain WWII Figurine of a Red Army Soldier sitting and playing the acordian.

Makers mark on underside. Signed "Prisyazhnyuk”

Presented here is a marvelous selection of porcelain miniatures from the "Military Series” by sculptor Vasily Ivanovich Prisyazhnyuk 1970-1980 (USSR, Ukraine, Baranovka). The works of this master are known to many collectors, they are distinguished by a seasoned style and high-quality execution. His most popular figurines are "Vasily Terkin", "Sailor with a guitar", and the series of military traffic controllers and many others.

Due to the makers mark being hand written and not a stamp, it can be assumed that this is a first generation model from a single series run, and was never put into mass production but hand manufactured only in small numbers.

This very rare Soviet figurine is part of a larger series by Vasily Ivanovich Prisyazhnyuk, dedicated to the men and women who served in the Red Army during World War II. Produced at the Baranovka factory in the second half of the 20th century, the factory was based in the Zhytomyr region of the Ukrainian USSR and existed from the early 19th century. During the Russian Empire the factory was called The Mezer Porcelain Factory and produced a variety of wares and figurines for the Russian aristocracy.

This figurine was manufactured in the 1970s
