Standing Woman.
Bronze, circa 1940. 330 mm; 13 inches (height). Incised with the artist's signature, lower right on the base.
Provenance: Private collection, New York.
Born in Ohio, Wickey (1892-1968) studied at the Detroit School of Fine Arts and served in France during World War I before moving to New York where he set up a studio. He first worked as a printmaker and was associated with the Ashcan School, but switched to sculpture in 1938 after etching acids hurt his eyesight.
