Description
Maria Martinez was world renown for her pottery art and is probably the most famous of all the Pueblo potters. Around 1918, she and husband Julian, discovered how to make the now infamous black on black pottery. This card is from the 1980 pottery display featured at the Edward Dean Museum of Decorative Arts, the same year of Martinez's passing. included is a poem penned by her great granddaughter Barbara Gonzales.
