Description
A CHINESE EXPORT BLUE AND WHITE "DRAGON IN FLOWERS" EARTHENWARE PLANTER, QING DYNASTY (1644-1912), underglaze blue decoration, the rim painted in a prunus blossom ring above the rolled edge mouth above Greek key pattern over a band of quatrefoil lattice interspersed by cherry blossoms and reserves of insects in landscape, above a tapered body painted with a scene of a fearsome, writhing dragon among leafy bramble and auspicious flower blooms, unmarked. Height: 19" Diameter: 21 1/4" Provenance: Collection of Hubert Hudson, Texas Senator 1957-1963, Brownsville, Texas.
