RUSSELL LEE (American/Texas 1903-1986) TWO PHOTOGRAPHS, "Girl Holding Her Cat" and "Girl Brushing Her Hair," CIRCA 1937, two gelatin silver print photographs, produced for the Farm Security Administration, "Girl Holding Her Cat," 9 1/4" x 7", framed 21 x 17 1/4"; "Girl Brushing Her Hair," 7" x 9 1/4", framed 17 1/4" x 21". Notes: Russell Lee originally worked for the Farm Security Administration in the late 1930s and developed a style known for social realism. This work brought him to Texas which became his home. In 1965, he became the first instructor in photography at the University of Texas, Austin.
Condition
There are no visible signs of damage or alteration. Each framed separately under a top mat and under plexi. Not examined out of the frame.
