Description
Japanese Porcelain Cup, Imperial Household Gift is an exquisitely created porcelain bowl decorated with gold ho-o birds (mythical symbols of longevity) and the imperial chrysanthemum emblem, kikumon. The rim is accented with gold. The bowl probably was made for the imperial household to use as an honorific gift. The bowl was once in the collection of David Hyatt King, a British collector who gave his collection to the National Museums of Scotland.
